Communication Breakthrough

By | 2014-08-27T06:09:35+00:00 August 27th, 2014|Gap Ministries|

Many of our clients encounter communication problems as they look for jobs or struggle to remain in contact with agencies or organizations that are helping them. The most common communication breakdown is lack of internet or phone access. In Daniel’s case, not having a functioning phone was making it difficult for him to receive help from Love INC. Unlike most people, “Daniel” didn’t let the lack of a phone set him back. He resolved to visit Love INC every week, biking from Dundee, to check his status on various waiting lists. His most recent visit to our office resulted in an appointment for a long overdue haircut. His hair has since been cut and he is happily facing job interviews in style! “Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.”-James 5:11

God Restores

By | 2014-08-20T06:00:10+00:00 August 20th, 2014|Clearinghouse|

“Mitchell” was a former high-end chef whose cocaine addiction had landed him in the streets of Seattle for many years.  Recently he found his way to Helping Hands in Newberg after a brief stay at Blanchet Farms recovery program in Carlton, Oregon. He shared in his intake interview with Love INC that disobedience to God had caused his past, but that he was a new creation in Christ.  He was full of confidence that God was going to restore the years he had wasted on drugs. Mitchell’s confidence in God came out in his conversations with us.  He expressed overflowing gratitude as we provided him with brand new clothing that a volunteer had donated.  While we could not provide a free bicycle that same day, he assured us that his transportation issue would work itself out. Sure enough, later that week he reported back to us that a generous man had given him a street legal dirt bike. With nothing but the Spirit of God guiding him and God’s people lending a helping hand, Mitchell is living a purposeful life again to the glory of God. “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”- Mark 11:24

Treasures in Heaven

By | 2014-08-18T06:22:54+00:00 August 18th, 2014|Relational Ministry|

Erin Macy, a Relational Ministry mentor, sat down with a married couple she mentors over dinner last month. It’s astounding to see the kind of impact Christians can have by simply involving others in their daily life.  Here’s a glimpse of that: “Last week we had “Kristina” and “Braden” over for dinner. As we were talking we discovered that Braden had actually had John's (my husband) mom for a teacher in high school. She passed away during Braden’s junior year and he even remembered his reaction to that news. He had some fun stories to share and it came at a really good time for John--he needed to hear about his mom.” “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”-Matthew 6:20-21

The Power of Facebook

By | 2014-08-13T06:56:39+00:00 August 13th, 2014|Shelter|

On the night of Monday, July 14th the shelter gals reported to their hosts that the shower rod upstairs was broken. One of the hosts took as easy of an action as one can take; she made a post on the Love INC Facebook page requesting a shower curtain rod! We kid you not, within fourteen minutes of her post, frequent Relational Ministry guest lecturer Esther Frank was knocking on the front door of the shelter with a really nice, heavy shower curtain rod in one hand and a bag of ice cream bars in the other! “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”- Romans 12:11

Blossoming Friendship

By | 2014-08-06T06:42:22+00:00 August 6th, 2014|Medical/Dental Clinic|

Old friends reunited at one of our dental clinics this month and their friendship blossomed all over again. Joyce was working as the receptionist, checking in and directing clients, when she noticed a familiar face show up for a dental appointment. Low and behold, it was a former classmate of hers! After catching up for a few minutes, they agreed to meet for lunch sometime later in the week. When the two finally met, Joyce was given a beautiful flower arrangement that her friend had put together from her garden. Joyce was so blessed by her friend’s gesture that she shared a picture of the bouquet.  “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”- Romans 12:10
