A concerted effort has been made by Love INC in the past several months to take greater strides in addressing unemployment in our community. Our newly introduced Work Worth class being offered through Relational Ministry is an example of these efforts being realized. We hope that by leaning into education and the provision of adequate work resources for people that we will see an increase in job performance, job satisfaction, and job opportunities amongst our clients.
The intensified focus has already yielded some exciting results. We posted our first shelter success story last month, highlighting shelter guest “Meredith’s” volunteer work through Head Start of Yamhill County. Since then, two other shelter residents have made progress in their job searches; “Elisa” started a new job working in a care home for the elderly and “Sherry” had her first job interview after searching for just a few days!
