Spring is officially upon us. Resurrection Day has come and gone. With a renewed sense of Christ’s victory over death in our hearts and minds, we are marching forward confidently in this new season hoping to continue experiencing more of this abundant life Christ has promised us and looking for opportunities to share it with others.
Now that a new season is under way, I wanted to give you an update on what is going on here at Love INC:
Spring Term of Relational Ministry kicked off on April 6th with eleven individuals participating in our Money Management course and nine in our Nutrition class. The Love INC Relational Ministry program is a place where participants attend a 45 minute class on money management or life skills, then spend 45 minutes in one-on-one or group discussion/mentoring.
This term we are especially excited to share that Newberg FISH is partnering with Love INC to provide weekly $20 vouchers to Nap’s Thriftway for fresh produce/meat for our Nutrition class students.
We are still in need of mentors to walk alongside folks as they learn biblical principles and life applications to their most pressing needs. Please pray about becoming a shoulder to lean on for spiritual support and encouragement, and a cheerleader for folks working on debt repayment goals.
The clearinghouse is the heartbeat of Love INC, where Christian volunteers serve on the frontlines, receiving requests for help, screening those requests for extent of need and legitimacy, and then referring the requests to a local church ministry of community agency. If you’d like to be a part of the body of Christ working together to empower and transform lives, think about coming on board in a reception or intake volunteer role. Currently, we are need of a Tuesday and Thursday receptionist. This summer we will be looking to replace our social work interns with an intake volunteer.
The shelter is filling up with new guests and we have a lot of nights open for hosting in the shelter.
In other news
First Presbyterian has opened a new Gap ministry! They will be taking over the responsibilities for the bike ministry that was put on delay during Love INC’s relocation efforts last year. Thank you to everyone at First Presbyterian for stepping up to the plate to meet his need in the community and for the Retired Recyclers for being patient and busy refurbishing bikes while the ministry was on hold.
Thank you again for your continued support of the Love INC ministry. We are excited to see what God is doing in our community through the hands and feet of His children!
